Montao returns with the Deluxe Edition of Echoes of the Cosmos, expanding his genre bending journey across Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Cinematic soundscapes, Ambient Lo Fi, Electronica and touches of Classical. The new release extends the experience to fifteen tracks, further showcasing his unique approach to production and storytelling.
The project features a striking line up of collaborators, bringing together some of the most respected names in the underground and mainstream scenes. Contributions come from Slug (Atmosphere), Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Sa Roc, Bronze Nazareth, Napoleon Da Legend, Koncept, Copywrite, RoQy TyRaiD, Lane Shuler and River Nelson. It is a testament to Montao’s creative vision and the connections he has built within the wider music community.
A lifelong musician and multi-instrumentalist, Montao’s artistic roots run deep. Having performed in orchestras, jazz bands, funk groups and the acclaimed mid 2000s indie rock band Elmor, he has spent decades refining his craft. When lockdown brought live music to a halt, it also sparked a new beginning. Out of that period of uncertainty came Montao, a name inspired by the concept of “My Way”, with Mon meaning My in French and Tao representing Way in Chinese philosophy.
With thirty-five years of musical experience and a wide-ranging love for countless genres, the downtime offered the perfect opportunity to channel long held ideas into a cohesive body of work. Echoes of the Cosmos stands as the result of that introspective period, delivering a fresh and imaginative addition to today’s music landscape. Each track presents its own sonic world, blending influences and emotions into a vivid listening experience.

Reflecting on the release, Montao said:
“When looking back at what I’ve created to this point, it truly encapsulates...me! To have truly expressed myself through my musical ideas, stories, and themes. I’ve not ‘tried’ to create anything for the sake of it. Everything has come naturally through my love of music, with many of the genres I have grown up meticulously listening to, obsessing over, and learning. Also, it would be criminal not to mention my life long love for movies, and how that has played a huge part in my creativity over time. It’s impossible not to see this in my music. This album is my first journey of many to come.”
